Who is the Snow Stig? Watch the video to find out...
It’s time for my final highland fling
Hi,
After more than two decades of racing
on the international ski circuit, I’ve decided
it’s time to hang up my ski boots. After
competing in three Olympic Games and
countless Europa and World Cup races
(including a 4th in Are in 2001) it has been
a very tough decision to make.
But after talking it over with my wife Sheila,
Snowsport GB and my loyal sponsors, I
believe it’s the right time for The Highlander
to make his final fling.
So, for a bit of fun I will be charging down
the slalom at the British Alpine Ski
Championships today (2 April) in my kilt!
Half-way down I may even stop to share a
wee dram with Mark Tilston, a very good friend
and Snowsport GB’s head coach.

From mid-April, I’ll be focusing on my new business venture - Alain Baxter Sports Limited (ABS) – where I will be working in the media, undertaking personal appearances and general sports consultancy.
I may be waving goodbye to the FIS starting gate but rest assured, alpine skiing will always be an important part of my life. It has given me fantastic experiences and many wonderful friends.
A HUGE thank you to all my sponsors and everyone who has been supporting The Highlander throughout the good and tough times of my racing career and good luck to all the young British racers out there who aspire to Olympic and World Cup success.
All the best,
